Adware

Adware is software that runs on a computer without the owner's consent, much like spyware. However, instead of taking information, it installs pop-up advertisements and similar programs onto the system. This slows the computer down and shows unwanted advertisements to users. Advertisement delivery systems are most often integrated into free applications as a way for developers to recover costs or generate revenue. But besides downloading advertisements, they may also upload user information collected without explicit permission.

One of the drives in my raid array (which is my system disk) got a broken connector. Turns out Serial ATA connectors are as weak as crap. Anyway. Luckily, I had made an image using Acronis True Image 7.0. Western Digital replaced my drive, but then I had to hold my breath and HOPE that Acronis True Image would restore correctly. Well, the whole process was painless and worked like a charm. Especially impressive because I restored from an external USB 2.0 drive. Thanks! If I would have had to RE-install all those programs, and REset all those preferences, etc. it would have been a Nightmare! Thanks for making a product that does what it’s supposed to do. And I didn’t have to install .net framework! or whatever it is, like Drive Image would have forced me to do.
